Welcome to the all new Reproba Vir website.

I'm sure you've all seen that the old site has been getting more and more outdated as time has gone on. Reproba Vir is 5 years old as a guild now and when we first started, our quiet little website was perfect. Five years on though, the web has moved forward and there's a lot of things that have needed updating. The long and short of this is that the decision was taken to start again from scratch with an entirely new website.
The general principles are the same, we're not wildly changing the format, but as you can see we've given everything a shiny new lick of paint and moved a lot of the important information into catagories to make it a bit easier to find everything. We've also added a few new features which I'll be detailing shortly. There's also a competition running with the grand relaunch to win some awesome prizes including gold and a Chopper! (Thanks go to fluffy for this)
First thing you will notice is that your login no longer works, so we will require you to register again. Don't worry though, the process is streamlined enough to take a few seconds to get you up and running. When you are up and running, you can take advantage of the new website features right away.
"So what is there for me when I'm registered on the new site then Dom?"
Well, I'm glad you asked. Here's a quick rundown for you:
- There's a new Arcade, with a few games that weren't in the old one. I have the HighScore in Pacman already, feel free to try and beat me.
- The forums are all new, which means they'll be needing some content and that's where you guys come in!
- The articles are now divided into clearer categories, with articles from before 2012 placed in the newly created "from the archives" section if you want to catch up on your guild history.
- The "most popular" section allows you to keep up with the most viewed content so you can be part of the crowd.
- The Gallery is all new and more importantly works better now, so your screen shots and photos will look better than ever.
- The profile system's been given a complete overhaul with places to list your alts and armory links if you want.
- Check out who's on Mumble and click to join them with the integrated mumble viewer.
"Why do I have to register again?"
The old site had too much to replace to be worth it; it would have taken far too long and given us far less flexibility. The particular software package we were using has been discontinued and that means that there are far less options for upgrading to. Because of this I've rewritten the entire site from scratch rather than bodging things on top of what we had already. Moving forward though, this should make the site expandable for the future so you won't need to register again after this point.
"But I still have things on the old site I didn't save"
No need to worry, I did think of that and the previous site will be available for a few more weeks at http://legacy.reprobavir.co.uk so you still have time to save things that you need to. It's read only now so you won't be able to post but if there's something that you wnat kept and you can't work out how then feel free to message me in game or here on the site with the particular thing you want copied over and I'll sort it for you where possible.
"I use Tapatalk to read the forums, is that affected?"
Tapatalk is still supported but you will want to remove the site and upload the new one. The previous forum is to be removed from Tapatalk over the next few days. For now it has been renamed "RV legacy site" so as to avoid any confusion. The new site is called "Reproba Vir Guild website forums" on the Tapatalk Directory.
"I'm not actually a member, I want to join Reproba Vir"
You'll see a link to our Application form above, click on that and fill in the form. We'll be back to you shortly after with our response.
"There was mention of prizes. What's that all about then?"
There are indeed prizes to be won. Prizes with some considerable value simply for taking part in the forums chat. See Fluffy's thread here
There's probably a fair few things that I haven't covered in here so post anything you need help with in the forums. The website is still an ever expanding concern so suggestions and feedback will always be welcome.
Thanks,
Dom
Iconic Moments In The Life Of Reproba Vir Dont Happen Often, But When They Do, They Are Truly Remarkable Things...

So, here we have it. It is precisely as I just described it. An iconic guild moment. And I for one am proud to have been a part of the first official RV clear of Dragon Soul 10 man.
We set out last night, (well most of us did) with a nice relaxed first half of Dragon Soul or so ahead of us. For me, personally, knowing that last time we had spent quite a bit of time getting Spine cleared, and even MORE time before that ticking Warmaster Blackhorn (aka LOLSHIP) off our checklist - I fully expected to perhaps need a few runs at each one, so in my mind, by the time the raid session ended, I reckoned we could potentially be at 6 with 2 to go, and even maybe having had a chance at a couple of pops at Spine, with a continuation for later in the week where we could all come back refreshed, nuke down Spine and then spend the rest of the evening practicing on Deathwing.
When we finished the first four bosses at well before "break" time, I was quite surprised at how fast we had gone. Admittedly, we were for once ready on time and in and bashing stuff before the end of the "grace" period for late show-ups, which of course helped get us to the tea break in good order and with the first four clear - (despite a certain someone commiting himself to a self-inflicted game of soggy biscuit by getting nailed by the ice waves on Hagface the Stormannoyance.)
After Seven had had his tea and two biscuits, and the rest of us had just had tea, we carried on and despite having to down more than the fifteen alleged trash dragons before Ultraxion, we sailed through that fight without a hiccup. And then... we sailed through lootship. I know. I cant quite believe it either. A sailing pun in relation to a ship boss. I should be ashamed of myself. And buy a thesaurus.
Then we did Spine. Again, made much easier by the fact that we had previously succeeded at downing this and had a great routine going. Teamwork was excellent, atmosphere of the group was delightful, and some of us began to ponder the possibility, that actually, with so much time in hand, we might possibly be able to get a few shots at old Deathwing in before raid end.
When we moved on to Deathwing, the atmosphere of the group increased markedly. We could almost taste the kill. Bigsnorri had brought his big book of "Things We Can Change That Could Make Things Work Easier" and he explained how to best approach the fight. So we started. Things were going well, progress was being made, and then.... BOOF - the ever unpredictable Thrall buff failed and left Snorri plummeting into the water instead of launching to the next platform and landing in a carefree manner ready and refreshed to start on the next wing/arm.
A few more attempts followed, and most of them were in some way blighted by either the Thrall bug or our newly found "Deathwings Head" bug. I did however enjoy spending five minutes staring down the barrel of Deathwings nutsack while everyone else DPSed their backsides off in a valiant attempt to try and clear it anyway, sans Drowned Shaman. (Sans is French for "without", fact fans. Dont say we never learn you nuffings here.)
Time was marching on, so despite it being 12.20ish, we decided to have one last pop. As you can see from the Happysnap above, that attempt could not have gone ANY better. No bugs, no epic fails, precise and careful management of the mobs, the bolts, and the trash, all came together perfectly and that nasty fire shitting bastard hit the deck for the first and certainly not the final time. NEVER let it be said that crossover guilds cannot be social and raid well successfully at the same time. WE are that exception that proves the rule. The only sadness about the final attempt was that we had no corpse of Deathwing to teabag, which would have been a beautiful way to end our first clear, and not only that, our first all in one night clear. The cheer that went up was probably audible in Voldamirs house, where he would have no doubt been busily thumbing through old diaries in an attempt to find a particularly gruesome story to share with the victorious raiders in his own special way of marking the achievement.
So congratulations to ALL of the members of RV who were involved in last nights run, wear your Destroyers End titles with pride, As things stand, we are now 41 on the server and 38 if you dont count the horde guilds. Thats something we can all be proud of. We might not be the biggest baddest epeen wielding raiders on Alonsus, but we can surely claim to be having the most fun while we do it.
Next up in the plans is to get lots more people a nice shiny title and achievement, and have some controlled goes at the early bosses on Heroic Mode. In order for us to start real Heroic Mode progression, we need a team of very seriously geared people, and so for future weeks, we will be continuing to run DS 10 Normal, get as many people as possible absolutely maxxed out gearwise, and working on team building and tactics. Our attempts at Heroic Mode bosses will start with Morchok, and if we down that, we will have just a couple of goes at the next boss - Realistically we wont make much progression with Heroic Mode until everyone in the group is as well geared as they can be, and we do not want to have people getting frustrated. The more we do Normal Mode, the easier Heroic Mode will become. It is great to still have things we can work towards though. Once we are all more than adequately geared - then we can perhaps start to take Heroic progression more seriously - but that is for the future. For now, let us celebrate how far we have come, with a nice fresh cup of tea, and a Custard Cream. (Thats the Soggy Biscuit Game in Heroic Mode, in case you were wondering...)
Tonights group were - Bigsnorri, Fleech, Gokwanlol, Magicminx, Neopanther,Seven, Shaminx, TheMcFluffy, Theresagreen, and not forgetting the fabulously transmogrified Wisteria. You should all be proud of yourselves. You were part of an amazing and historic moment in this guild, one that has never occured before. Not only have we cleared the normal mode end game content, but we did it in one night AND - AND!- Theres no release date for Mists of Pandaria yet! PROGRESSION BABY! YEAH!
**EDIT** Also, after writing this, we made our second clear, in what is probably the wrong order, I present our latest Raid clear:
